Health anxiety can feel overwhelming, but we don’t have to live with rumination and worry
Therapy for Health Anxiety in Youngstown Ohio
Therapy Available Virtually Across OH
Traditional therapy approaches for anxiety may not feel supportive with health-related anxiety.
Feeling like you’re being told to simply “stop worrying” doesn't validate the reality of what you're experiencing.
With something as important as our health in question, anxiety is understandable. But sometimes anxiety gets in the way of us living our lives.
Health Anxiety Can Sound Like…
“I know something isn’t right, but all my labs are “normal.”
I feel like I’m going crazy because no one believes me, including my doctors.
I know something is wrong, so why can’t the doctors find it?
If I keep bringing up these concerns, will my doctors tell me it’s all in my head?
How do I keep living with this if they can’t tell me why my body is feeling this way?
"I’m constantly worried I’ll have a flare up.”
No one at work knows what’s happening - what if I get sick while I’m there?
I can’t keep calling off work - I can’t afford to lose my job.
I feel so unreliable, but I just can’t push through sometimes.
If I lose my job, I’ll lose my insurance and then what will I do?
“How do I plan my life when I don't know how I'll feel?”
I’m afraid to make plans because I don’t want to have to cancel if I don’t feel well.
The thought of planning something far in advance is overwhelming.
I just want to skip the family trip this year because I don’t want others having to wait for me if I’m not feeling well.
I constantly feel like I’m letting people down, at work, at home, and even letting myself down.
Therapy Can Help You Break Free From Constant Health Anxiety
By acknowledging that our worries are reasonable, we can make space for them in a way that still allows us to be present in our lives.
What if…
Instead of worrying about how you will feel in the future…
You could speak confidently about the patterns you are noticing and tracking in your body?
Instead of feeling overwhelmed with anxiety when speaking to your doctors…
You feel empowered to share your concerns with your providers in a way that makes them listen?
Instead of constantly worrying about how your health will impact your job…
You lean into the present moment to enjoy what feels accessible for you today?
Instead of having anxiety leading up to family trips (or avoiding them entirely) because you’re worried how your health will impact others…
You could feel confident in knowing how to pace yourself while enjoying time with family, and feel empowered by your choices around where to spend your energy?
What Makes Stephanie Different From Other Therapists With a Chronic Illness Speciality?
Hello - I’m so glad you’re here!
Choosing the right therapist can feel overwhelming. If you’re feeling nervous, about finding the right support, I totally get it.
What makes me different is that I know first-hand what it’s like to feel the loss of identity associated with chronic illness. I’m happy to say that I also feel like I have a good sense now (after years of getting in my own way!) of the kind of things that can help bring us back to ourselves.
Our bodies and health may never be quite what they were before, but we can still build a life we feel passionately about.
I can’t wait to support you!
Stephanie

-
My fee for an individual session is $150 for self-pay or anyone wanting to explore out of network benefit options.
-
I accept all major credit cards, HSA cards, or FSA cards as permitted by your plan.
-
I do not accept insurance, and I understand that may be disappointing for some people. In the past, being an in-network therapist has meant I spend considerable admin time on paperwork, billing, denied claims, etc. By operating on a self-pay basis, I am able to pour all my focus into my work with clients. Time I would spend on admin work can be refocused on building resources to further support my clients.
If you are looking to use your insurance for therapy, you can explore reimbursement for services through any out of network benefits you may be eligible for with your primary health plans. Reach out to your insurance provider for more details on whether this is possible for your specific plan.

I think the most important thing that sets me apart from other qualified and compassionate therapists is that I myself live with chronic pain, illness, and health uncertainty. I know first hand what it’s like to navigate these challenges, and I also understand why more generalized approaches to therapy tend to fall short for those of us with unpredictable bodies. My lived experience combined with my extensive clinical experience means I really get it.

You can reach me anytime through my contact form, via email, or by phone. I aim to respond within one business day. I know that once you’re ready to get started, you will want to get things moving forward right away.
You don’t have to navigate chronic illness alone.
