You Can Be Grateful for Your Life and Still Grieve What You’ve Lost.
-
Through a blend of mindfulness practices, we can help you develop more gentle self-talk and more realistic expectations of yourself as you navigate fluctuating capacity day to day.
-
Using interpersonal effectiveness strategies from a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approach, we can help you identify areas where supportive boundaries can help you better manage your energy, your focus, and your overall health.
-
Through an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) lens of values exploration, we can help you identify what is truly most important to you so you can prioritize those things, while gently releasing you from the guilt of shedding misaligned expectations.
-
When we must continue to engage with systems that have been a source of trauma (such as medical appointments, having symptoms be dismissed by medical professionals, or medical gaslighting), getting the care we need can become a triggering experience. Together we can identify ways to help to heal from medical trauma and develop the confidence to self-advocate with medical professions.
-
Coping with chronic pain, feeling like we are missing out on things we used to enjoy, and navigating a new relationship with our bodies after diagnosis can all impact our mood. Although depression can be an understandable experience alongside chronic illness, we can challenge negative self-talk, redirect all or nothing thinking, and begin to meet ourselves where we are.
-
Nothing contributes to anxiety and worry more than uncertainty. “Is this a flare or is this my new normal?” These questions are valid, but the rumination and endless thought loops they cause can lead to even more stress on our already over-worked nervous systems. We can develop present-moment awareness through mindfulness practices to help you feel safe and supported in what is happening now.

Living with chronic illness can mean constantly adjusting to a body you can’t always predict.
You may be exhausted from trying to keep up, frustrated by limitations other people can’t see, or grieving the life you thought you’d be living by now.
And sometimes the hardest part isn’t the illness itself. It’s figuring out who you are when you can’t keep doing things the way you always have.
Therapy can give you a place to put down the pressure to push through. A place to process the grief, frustration, anxiety, and uncertainty, while learning how to care for yourself without giving up the parts of life that matter most to you.
You don’t have to choose between accepting your limitations and having a meaningful life. Together, we can find a way forward that honors both.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.
