Chronic illness impacts more than just our physical health, so we need to design a plan that supports more than just our bodies
Holistic Therapy in Youngstown Ohio
Therapy Available Virtually Across OH
When an illness impacts our body, we can focus too much on our physical needs and ignore our broader emotional, mental, and spiritual needs.
By bringing all dimensions of ourselves into focus, we can build a strong foundation to give our physical bodies the support they need
Chronic illness doesn’t exist only in the context of our bodies, which is why we need a holistic approach to therapy
Holistic Therapy Can Help You Reconnect to Yourself…
“I didn’t expect this diagnosis to impact my relationships like this.”
I know my partner loves me, but they also don’t understand. I feel so guilty and lonely when I have to say no to date nights or physical intimacy.
I want to be the parent that gets down on the floor to play with the kids, but it just hurts my body so bad. Having to say no all the time and see the disappointment on their faces breaks my heart.
I had to miss my best friend’s wedding because I couldn’t do the travel. I’m tired of letting down the people I love most.
"Going through all this struggle has really made me question my spiritual beliefs.”
I used to have such strong faith, but I don’t know what I believe anymore.
Why is this happening to me? I feel like I’m being punished.
I have a work friend who tells me I should pray about it. What good will that do? How do I get people to stop telling me to be positive about things?
“I’ve heard that stress can make invisible illness worse, but how am I supposed to just be calm about what I’m going through?”
I know stress can impact the body, but my body is the source of my stress. How do I get out of a cycle like that?
How would it even work to just “not worry about it” when I have no idea if I’m going to feel well enough day to day to care for myself and my children?
There’s only so much I can do to minimize stress - I have a lot of things on my plate right now. If I don’t do them, no one else will.
Holistic Therapy Can Help You Bring All Areas of Your Life Into Focus
We can’t compartmentalize our chronic illness from the rest of our lives
What if…
Instead of feeling guilty when you have to say no to a family member’s request…
You could explore other ways to remain connected so your bond stays strong?
Instead of saying yes to things that you know will cost you too much in terms of chronic pain or flare ups…
You learn to identify what is truly most important for you, and feel empowered to say YES to those things while releasing yourself from guilt when you say no to smaller things?
Instead of judging yourself for questioning your spiritual beliefs since chronic illness has shown up…
You could process those feelings in a nonjudgmental space where you can be really honest with yourself about what questions this experience brings up for you?
Instead of pressuring yourself to put on a brave face for others…
You allow yourself to make space for all your emotions, meeting yourself right where you are each day?
What Makes Stephanie Different From Other Therapists With a Chronic Illness Speciality?
Hello - I’m so glad you’re here!
Choosing the right therapist can feel overwhelming. If you’re feeling nervous, about finding the right support, I totally get it.
What makes me different is that I know first-hand what it’s like to feel the loss of identity associated with chronic illness. I’m happy to say that I also feel like I have a good sense now (after years of getting in my own way!) of the kind of things that can help bring us back to ourselves.
Our bodies and health may never be quite what they were before, but we can still build a life we feel passionately about.
I can’t wait to support you!
Stephanie

-
My fee for an individual session is $150 for self-pay or anyone wanting to explore out of network benefit options.
-
I accept all major credit cards, HSA cards, or FSA cards as permitted by your plan.
-
I do not accept insurance, and I understand that may be disappointing for some people. In the past, being an in-network therapist has meant I spend considerable admin time on paperwork, billing, denied claims, etc. By operating on a self-pay basis, I am able to pour all my focus into my work with clients. Time I would spend on admin work can be refocused on building resources to further support my clients.
If you are looking to use your insurance for therapy, you can explore reimbursement for services through any out of network benefits you may be eligible for with your primary health plans. Reach out to your insurance provider for more details on whether this is possible for your specific plan.

I think the most important thing that sets me apart from other qualified and compassionate therapists is that I myself live with chronic pain, illness, and health uncertainty. I know first hand what it’s like to navigate these challenges, and I also understand why more generalized approaches to therapy tend to fall short for those of us with unpredictable bodies. My lived experience combined with my extensive clinical experience means I really get it.
-
You can reach me anytime through my contact form, via email, or by phone. I aim to respond within one business day. I know that once you’re ready to get started, you will want to get things moving forward right away.
You don’t have to navigate chronic illness alone.
